With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time for you to choose the decorations for the festive season. Dust off the Christmas tree and the embellishments that come with it and wash the holiday stockings. However, while there are ornaments that you can’t do without this season, here are seven other creative ways to decorate your property to have a Christmas feel.

1. Work with new colours

Since red and gold already dominate the Christmas theme, why not play with other colours this year? Play with your green Christmas tree by adding black accents and add blue decorations for a unique look. Even a white tree with purple or pink accents will surely catch everyone’s attention. Do not restrict yourself with traditional designs and allow your imagination to take over. Your modern design will usher in the Christmas magic regardless of the tree you use.

2. Use larger baubles

Since you’re working with unique designs, why not use bigger baubles? You can create larger than life baubles via paper mache and decorate them with paint or glossy wrappers. This project can serve as a family bonding activity by letting them customize their bauble while sharing some stories in the process.

3. Get creative with pinecones

Pinecones are best used for Christmas decorations since they are aplenty this time of the year. Spraying them with white and silver paint will make them shine on wreaths and Christmas trees. You will come up with more ways to incorporate pinecones by letting your creativity take over.

4. Develop a Christmas collage

Bring out Christmas photographs from the past and combine them into a seasonal collage. Make sure that you leave ample space for more pictures with each passing holiday. This decoration is the perfect way to reminisce the happy memories and rekindle the traditions that brought much excitement and laughter.

5. Work on your own Christmas card

Use pegs and strings to hang the cards like ornaments. Make sure that the string can support the card’s weight to avoid them from falling. Add every card that you will receive to this collection and place them near the Christmas tree. Aside from the lovely accent it provides, you will get to reread the messages from your friends and family.

6. Include bookshelves in the decoration

Covering a bookshelf with Christmas wrapping paper upgrades the festive look of your lodge. However, avoid using tape to attach the wrapper because it can damage the shelf’s finish. Instead, fold the paper around the cover and add Christmas ornaments to make the shelf pop out. You can maximize empty layers by placing Christmas figurines as well.

7. Create a beautiful wreath

Welcome your guests to your Christmas-themed home by decorating the front door with a wreath. You can purchase a pre-made wreath if you don’t have time to make one. However, you can create better designs if you will build one from scratch. Aside from flowers, you will need materials that will create a circular display. Gift wrapping paper provides an ideal cover for the bare wreath while ribbons or bows deliver the finishing touches. Add lights to make the wreath stand out.
